Walt Disney Animation Studios won 6 including 3 general Annies for their role as The Princess and the Frog and 3 for television production and land preparation. LOS ANGELES, California (6 February 2010) – Pixar Animation Studio has been to honor the role of Best Animation at the 37th Annual Annie held at UCLA Royce Hall tonight. DreamWorks Animation won 5 Annies including Best Children’s Television Production and Directing Television The Penguins of Madagascar, Character Animation / TV and storyboard background / Monsters vs. Aliens and storyboard / TV Merry Madagascar.
Best Home Entertainment Production was a 20 Century Fox Futurama: Into the Wild Green Back, Best Animated Short Film went to the robots ShadowMachine Chicken: Star Wars 2.5, Acme Filmworks won Best Animated TV commercial for Deportees “Spanish Lottery” best animated television production went to Disney preparation and landing, and best animated television production for children was to The Penguins of Madagascar DreamWorks
A special tribute to the late Roy Disney was presented by Don HahnNamed after the prolific animator, Winsor McCay, this award stands as one of the highest honors given to an individual in the animation industry in recognition of career contributions to the art of animation. The Winsor McCay Award was given to three industry leaders – Tim Burton, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Bruce Timm. Tim Burton accepted his Winsor through video.
